Autumn Hue I Paid Double the Actual Price for! Mac’s Vegas Volt (Amplified) Review

Although I am very annoyed I had to pay 35 USD (when its' listed price is 16 USD) I cannot complain about the tone or quality or final effect. Highly recommended but don' t overpay and order it online instead!

Although I am very annoyed I had to pay the equivalent of 35 USD (when its’ listed price is 16 USD) I cannot complain about the Vegas Volt’s tone or quality or overall effect. Highly recommended for the ultimate high fashion look but don’ t overpay and order it online instead!

Hello beauties!

Depressing winter is on its’ way  – what better way to fight the blues than with a nice flash of coral?! When its’ far too bright and sunny in the summer, in my opinion, corals can be a tad bit blinding on our terrain. But when its’ dark and dreary and everyone is dressed up dark and dreary, I think a flash of color really makes you stand out of the crowd 🙂

Although I am super annoyed that I had to pay an equivalent of 35 USD while its’ listed for 16 USD online (bought it in Islamabad ,city of shops that charge whatever their owners’  feel like depending on the brand of the handbags their regular clientele carries -_-) – I am still happy with my  only casual wear lipstick this autumn which is Mac’s Vegas Volt (from the Amplified range).

I absolutely love the color, it gives a very high fashion finish if you put it on properly 🙂 It’s not too neon so you can wear it wherever – if you need to look professional and understated – after application dab on a bit of your nude colored lippie to tone it down or to pink it out mix it with your favorite red (for ideas see my previous post Free Tack Pass and Emergency Disposable Red)

The texture is creamy which is a big plus and it holds it fort (mostly) for a couple of hours – you do need to keep touching it up  – If you don’t it, dry patches of lipstick will be formed on the outer corner of your lips 😛 So if you are not big on touching up your makeup during the course of the day (or an outing) steer clear of this! Also, you must use lip pencil with this to prevent it bleeding out – especially if you have a well defined bow.

Great lipstick, but I got close to zero value for money – if I had gotten this for 16 USD I would be much happier. Hmpf 😛

Hope this helps girls! and let me know what your autumn lippie is 🙂

No Makeup at Marc Jacobs NY Fashion Week!

Hmmm I wouldn't carry the no makeup look in public unless I was wearing a Marc Jacobs outfit ;)

Hmmm nah I wouldn’t try the no makeup look in public (unless I had a Marc Jacobs outfit to go with 😉

Vogue draws our attention to the absolutely makeup less look of the models this year at Marc Jacobs Show in NY! Some of the models do look like they have blush/concealer on though. Read the article here and let me know if I’m wrong!

I know I won’t be going no-makeuped out in public in this lifetime 😉 What about you?! Do you think its’ time we trashed our dressing tables?!

Pimple Wars – Kiehl’s Blemish Control Daily Skin -Clearing Treatment Review

This is it ladies - apply when you sense them dreaded pimples coming to prevent a breakout and reduce the pimple life cycle :P

This is it ladies – apply when you sense them dreaded pimples coming to prevent a breakout and reduce the pimple life cycle 😛

Hello beauties!

Hope you’ve been having a good sunny week 🙂 I worked out yesterday with my foundation on ( couldn’t go home to take it off -_-) which resulted in a nice large red bump on my chin! It was under the skin with no head so I decided to get into action prior to it becoming a nice large pimple that stays for the rest of the  year 🙂 I’m one of those people whose pimples stick around like squatters in a summer French villa.

So what did I have in my medicine cabinet to sort this nonsense out? Kiehl’s Blemish Control Daily Skin-Clearing Treatment ( I own it in a 30 ml tube!). If you are prone to that solo pimple that starts under your skin, takes a week to surface and then a month to mature, pop and die – this is it for you. It will not dry out your skin but will minimize the pimple’s size while speeding up the pimple popping and killing cycle   (reduces it to a couple of days!). If you apply it around the pimple, it will ensure no lovely brothers or sisters follow it :).

Even when I sense a breakout on its’ way (pimples on T zone), I make a dash for this, its’ been a beauty saver! I prefer applying it overnight so that by the time I get up, the dirty work has been done and the pimple is ready to explode after my morning face-wash 🙂

Go to your nearest beauty store and grab this girls! I got it from a duty free and have not seen this yet back home yet – I guess it is a little pricey for around 30 dollars so our importers don’t think there is a sufficient market of acne sufferers to ensure profits!

If you’ve used this before, do let me know if your experience was as positive as mine 🙂

Until next time! Make-up well ladies 😉

Perfecting the Dollface – Clinique Even Better Concealer 05 Review

Clinique's Even Better Concealer should be a permanent fixture on your dressing table ladies! Full coverage without fail ;)

This should be a permanent fixture on your dressing table ladies! Full coverage without fail 😉 My recommendation for pale brown girls – Natural 05.

Hello beauties!

As promised many weeks ago this is the review for THE  concealer you need on standby at your dressing table – Clinique’s Even Better Concealer. Used around the eyes, it gives you the perfect dollface for an evening out thanks to its full coverage composition. I stick to this whenever I apply  Guerlain’s Invisible Fusion Skin Foundation (see my earlier post Go Glam with Guerlain for tips on application and perfecting the evening look) for formal events. It also goes well with Clinique’s Even Better foundation (see my review here) but I guess that goes without saying, they are from the same line 😉

I use 05 natural – the great thing about this range is that they have all the shades needed to complement our brown skin-tones (from pale brown to wheatish to dark). The base is white, but it works without looking tacky so don’t worry. In the day-time, this may seem a bit OTT so steer clear if you are going for the natural look and stick to Benefit’s Erase and Paste (see my review/advise for it in my ealier post Photoshop your face with Erase Paste). If the Even Better Concealer this is the only concealer you own, then apply in moderate quantities around your eyes when prep-ing for day-wear.

My only peeve with this concealer is that the texture is a bit dry so I end up rubbing/pulling my eye skin quite a bit – which is a big no no due to my fear of aging 🙂 But there is a solution -mix it up with a very little bit of your moisturizer (see my post Moisturizer Time for ideas!) to ease application/improve the texture. Oh, and feel free to use this to cover blemishes even during the daytime – if you blend it properly, you’ll look very naturally perfect 🙂 I got it from a duty free for around 30 dollars, but it is listed online for 20 dollars (annoying!). Luckily, it is locally available but you’ll have to pay  a premium (as always -_-).

That’s it for today ladies! If you’ve tried this product out and liked it/didn’t like it, do let me know 🙂

Makeup well until next time!

Hair Care – Shu Uemura Silk Bloom Restorative Treatment Masque Review

Strongly recommended for all you ladies who blow dry/straighten your hair excessively - do apply in moderate quantities though if you want to maintain volume though

Strongly recommended for all the ladies who blow dry/straighten their hair excessively – remember to apply moderately if you want to maintain volume!

Hello ladies!

This past year I haven’t done anything nice for my hair even though I blow dry and straighten it a lot (a bit of laziness coupled with a lack of time :P). I’ve been using Shu Uemura’s Silk Bloom Restorative Treatment Masque for damaged hair (with argan oil) for a crash treatment course  for a few weeks now.

I love it! It has made a VERY noticeable change in my hair in terms of the texture – do apply this in moderate quantities though as I have noticed when I apply it generously (from roots to ends), my hair is a bit flat -silky, untangled and soft but without volume (I have an inverted bob so that matters a lot to me!). The flatness may also be because of the humidity  though so more updates on that once the weather evens out 🙂 Also, I have held back on the straightening so follow this up with some additional TLC for your hair.

I paid around 70 dollars for this but it is not available locally – I strongly recommend you order this most of all because because of its’ convenience. I leave it on after shampooing for no longer than 5 minutes – for other masks by brands like Clarins that I tried a couple of years ago I had to leave it on for more than 20 minutes to get similar results.

Hope you find this useful beauties! Take care and makeup well until next time 🙂
