Snap Shot II – Kiehl’s Rosa Arctica Lightweight Cream Review

Beautiful Jar, disappointing product. Take your time when deciding on this beauties!

Beautiful Jar, disappointing product. Take your time when deciding on this beauties!

Hi lovelies!

I’m back today with another snapshot post. I chose Kiehl’s Rosa Arctica Lightweight Cream because I have nothing much to say about this. I got this as I am absolutely freaking out about my impending wrinkles and the salesgirl suggested this was right for my skin type (combination). Also, the jar is classy. Very Tiffany. The product’s texture, though, is more suitable for a tube or dispenser as it is not very rich and veers more towards the lotion spectrum.

I expected the kind of visible results I have experienced anti aging creams around the same price range (i.e. origins; clinique) when I bought this. Unfortunately, this does not even come close. It feels way too dry on the skin once applied. I need to mix this with a little bit of olive oil (try apricot if you have oily skin) so that my skin stays hydrated. The smell, like the calendula herbal extract toner, is very grandma’s-poisonous-medicine type. The advantage is that it really wakes you up. Great for mondays 😛 Please note that this is advertised as a fragrance free product so consumers are not allowed to complain about this. I’m just being mean. PMS.

All in all, this was not good value for around 65 dollars (smallest jar available). I could not return this, alongwith a host of other products I binged on but was not happy with, because I got them from a duty free. However, I have learnt that Kiehls has a product return policy even on its used products so look into it before purchasing! Whatever you do, just don’t buy an entire skin range from them when you only have 10 minutes to spare.

That’s it for now lovelies! I wish you more beauty product hunting success than I have had lately 😛

Have a wonderful week and makeup well until next time 🙂

Toner Time! Kiehl’s Calendula Herbal-Extract Toner Review

This will be a hit with the nature loving beautistas!

This will be a hit with the nature loving beautistas!

Hi Lovelies!

I got hooked onto toners when I was 13 – I wasn’t allowed to use makeup back then but was allowed to indulge in moisturizers, toners and facewashes 😛 the good ol’ days 🙂

I’ve already reviewed my favorite toner(click here for my pick!) but of late I’ve been experimenting a few others, including Kiehl’s Calendula Herbal Extract. I am looking to uproot my existing beauty routine so visited the Kiehl’s counter earlier this year for suggestions. My skin (combination) has been acting up lately, due to which I get red rashes on my face when I wake up. Sometimes they disappear within a couple of hours while at others they turn into a small white pustule that goes away within a day or so.

So whats the verdict?

I will not be repurchasing this – it has its’ pros, it did not exacerbate my skin which is a big deal!

However, I did not notice enough of an improvement in my skin to warrant its 20 USD price tag (this is for the smallest size btw, for a high turnover product like this, I generally pick up the largest bottles once I’m sure I will be using it regularly,  which for this will cost 60 USD). While I did not experience any further breakouts while using this, it did not really work to I prefer toners that moisturize the skin significantly/sooth the texture which this didn’t (it doesn’t claim to do this, so its a case of personal preference for me :). It definitely did not dry my skin out btw, it just didn’t help it either in this respect! Finally, I think I’ve been corrupted by the perfume quality scents of my skin care products so the rather stringent smell from this toner did not appeal to my senses. It is au naturale so its’ an acquired taste 🙂

That’s it for today beauties! I hope you found this useful 🙂 and if your experience with this product has varied, let me know 🙂

Until next time, makeup well 🙂

Moisturizer Time – Lancome Hydra Zen Neurocalm

Lancome's soothing anti stress moisturizing cream from their hydra zen collection. Light enough for our humid summer - make sure you apply this before you make-up girls :)

Lancome’s soothing anti stress moisturizing cream from their hydra zen collection. Light enough for our humid summer – make sure you apply this before you make-up girls 🙂

Hello ladies,

I’m sure you already  possess a separate sets of moisturizers for the summer and winter – if you don’t, vow to do so now! Our seasons are dramatically extreme our skin needs tailored care to avoid premature aging. As they say, prevention is better than cure so make sure you don’t compromise on this aspect of your beauty care.

The one moisturizer I am addicted to this season (summer) is Lancome’s Hydra Zen Neurocalm – soothing anti-stress moisturizing cream.  I’m usually a Clinique fan when it comes to moisturization but since entered my mid-twenties I figured I had to up my game to keep the wrinkles away.

I was talked into buying this by a sales-girl at a duty free – she explained this is great for anti-aging purposes for women in my age group who do not need to get hooked onto the stronger stuff yet.

So why do I recommend this so strongly? It hasn’t irritated my skin or caused a breakout! My skin is pretty sensitive so I’m always cautious about spending too much on creams because it hurts the most when they cause a rash or breakout and I to end up using them on my feet -_-

It gets absorbed completely  and almost feels like its’ not there – it makes a BIG difference in the softness of the skin. In the summer I also use this as a night-cream because its’ that light. Add SPF 15 to the mix and we have a multi-purpose investment 😛

A 50 ml bottle will cost you around 70 dollars – but it will last you around 2 seasons so why not invest girls? keep leftover safe in your fridge until next summer! You’ll have to order this online for the time-being but I’ll keep a lookout in the local market and keep you posted.

I also recommend you get Lancome’s softening hydrating toner to use with this. I apply it before the cream and it has not irritated my skin even once. Also it makes a VERY notable difference in the softness (as promised by the name ;)) . Its’ a steal for around 20 dollars so make sure you buy toner even if you can’t afford the cream!

Post Update – Girls, winter is in full throe and I am using the hydrating toner for healing and preventing annoying dry patches on my face. Its’ working its’ magic very well  and I don’t have to use olive oil to heal them. Olive oil is great but its’ too thick and causes me breakouts if I use daily!

That’s it for now! Have a great day ladies, and remember to makeup well 😉
